Libra Zodiac Sign: ♎️
Libra (Latin name: Libra) is the only zodiac constellation that represents an inanimate object rather than a person or animal. In ancient times, the constellation of Libra was considered part of Scorpius, specifically its claws. However, astronomers decided that this group of stars was deserving of its own constellation status and "severed" it from Scorpius.
In the ancient Greek star catalog, the new constellation was known as Klēshni, while in the star charts of ancient Romans, it was already referred to as Libra, meaning "scales" in Latin. Eventually, the name Libra prevailed, but to this day, the two brightest stars in the constellation are still referred to as Southern and Northern Claws.
The constellation of Libra is associated with an intriguing history of the search for extraterrestrial civilizations. In 1962, 1966, 2008, and 2009, radio and laser signals carrying messages to potential intelligent beings were sent from Earth in the direction of Libra. In 2007, astronomers discovered four planets orbiting a red dwarf star in the constellation of Libra called Gliese 581, with one of them bearing an uncanny resemblance, on a cosmic scale, to Earth.
But the story doesn't end there. While debates raged within scientific circles about the possibility of life taking hold on such a planet, astronomers suddenly detected peculiar emissions from that region of the Libra constellation, possibly originating from the star Gliese 581 with its "Earth-like" planet.
Are these signals a response from intelligent extraterrestrial beings or simply unidentified stellar phenomena? Although the signals have not been deciphered yet, many scientists firmly believe it to be the former.
Astrology of Libra
Libra Months: September, October
Libra is the 7th sign of the zodiac. The Sun enters this sign on September 22 or 23 (depending on the year) and remains in Libra until October 22 or 23.
Libra Season: Autumn
Libra is the first sign of autumn. This season represents a transitional period, a time of anticipation in nature. The hot summer has already ended, and the cold of autumn has not yet begun. The earth rests after the harvest and plowing. In Leo, the fruits ripened, in Virgo, the fruits were gathered, and Libra's main task is to distribute the harvest properly: some for winter storage, some for the next planting season.
The characteristics of Libra, such as thoughtfulness, rationality, a desire for justice, harmony, and balance, are influenced by the season. Libras, more than anyone else, are able to find the golden mean between the desired and the necessary, between "must" and "want."
Element of Libra: Air
The element of Air symbolizes lightness, movement, and the principles of interaction among people. This changeable and unpredictable element is associated with contacts, communication, and social connections. The three zodiac signs associated with the Air element are Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius.
The main advantages of Libra, as an Air sign, are diplomacy, resourcefulness, sociability, friendliness, optimism, and the ability to avoid conflicts (or rather, to fly away from them as quickly as the wind). Under the influence of the Air element, Libras are naturally curious, quick learners, and have a creative and imaginative mindset.
Ruling Planet of Libra: Venus
Venus's motto is "I love!" Since ancient times, Venus has been known as the planet of love and beauty, but astrologers claim that its influence is much broader. Venus represents the emotions and motivations of a person in all their vibrant manifestations. The seductive Venus knows all about pleasure and enjoyment, whether it's indulging in pastries or being in a loving relationship. Romance is definitely its forte. In the character of Libra, their ruling planet Venus brings traits such as tenderness, sensitivity, a desire for understanding, caring, and the ability to establish harmonious relationships.
Sociability, friendliness, the desire to create a cozy atmosphere, the ability to love, an attraction to beauty, and creative abilities—all these invaluable qualities that Libras possess can also be attributed to the influence of Venus in their horoscope. And, of course, the planet of love bestows Libra with a magnetic charm for the opposite sex.
