What a transit is
Natal point
The degree a planet occupied at the moment you were born. It never changes, not once in your life – a mark on the zodiac circle that belongs to you.
Transiting planet
A planet moving across the sky right now. When it comes up to your natal point at a meaningful angle, that is a transit.
Why some transits are noticeable and others are not
The fast planets – Mercury, Venus, Mars – cross a point in a day or two. Jupiter and everything beyond hold the angle for weeks and come back three times because of retrograde motion: a transit like that feels like a period of your life.
What is not calculated here
Houses, the Ascendant and the Midheaven: those depend on the place and the exact minute of birth. Those need a birth chart with coordinates. Here you get only what the date alone can honestly give you.
How to read this
Conjunctions and oppositions are the most noticeable: the transiting planet's theme moves to the front. A square means you will have to choose; a trine or sextile means the door is open but you still have to walk through it. The exact date is the peak, not the whole run: for fast planets count a day either side, for slow ones count weeks.
A transit doesn't decide anything. It shows you which theme is under load right now, not what is going to happen to you. There is more about what gets calculated here and how in on the How We Calculate page.
