What Is Ask the Universe?

This is a free online oracle for your questions. Hold a question in your mind and tap “Send It to the Sky” to receive my answer and a sign for the days ahead. No sign-up needed. It works on your phone or computer.

How to Ask the Universe a Question Online

There are two ways. Choose whichever feels right.

First: type your question in the field above and tap “Send It to the Sky.” Ask about anything: love, work, home, money, whatever's been on your mind. I can hear “Should I change jobs?” more clearly than just “What's going to happen?”

Second: open the Sky Map. It has sixteen topics, each with its own constellation. Choose a topic and a question. The most popular questions appear first; expand the list below to see the rest. There are nearly four hundred in all.

What's in a Message from the Universe?

Every answer has three parts.

A word. A short answer: “Yes,” “Wait,” “Let go,” or another hint.

A few warm words. An image and a little advice you can put into practice today.

A sign for the days ahead. Something you might notice in everyday life: a bird on your windowsill, the jingle of keys, a warmly lit window. There are sixty-four signs in all. You don't need to go looking for them.

What Do “Wait” and “No” Mean?

My answer isn't always yes. That's more honest. Sometimes it's “Wait, it's not time yet,” sometimes “Yes, but not the way you expect,” sometimes “You already have the answer.” Sometimes it's a gentle no, pointing to something you can let go of to free your hands. Even in my most reserved answer, I'm on your side.

Can I Ask Again?

You can. The first two times, I look at your question from different angles. Ask a third time or more, and you may hear a completely different answer. Ask the same question another day and you'll hear something new: the sky has its moods, just as people do. And if the only answer you want is yes, look within. Most of the time, you know more than your question lets on.

Your question for the Universe

If your question isn't on the Sky Map, ask it in your own words. I hear the kind of question you're asking: about timing (“when”), a reason (“why”), what or how (“what's getting in the way,” “how should I handle this”), or yes and no (“should I,” “will it work out”). And I answer in the same form. Your own question stays in your browser and isn't sent anywhere, so you can ask about even your deepest secrets.

Can I Trust the Universe's Answers?

Let me put it this way: trust what rings true for you. This oracle is here to lift your spirits and give you something to reflect on. It doesn't predict your fate or promise that things will happen. What it does well is help you pause, breathe, and hear what you really want. The decision is still yours: both the door and the key are in your hands.
