The Water Element in Your Birth Chart

Water is the element of Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces. The number of planets in those signs tells you how much Water energy your chart contains. Below are all three possibilities: plenty of it, just enough, or none at all.

When Water dominates

You're a person of Water: the Water element dominates your birth chart. You think vividly in images, with logic and rationality playing a smaller role.

Your personality has so many facets that only the most talented artists could capture the full palette of your qualities and emotions.

Even when you appear calm, all the different energies of Water are surging within you. In anger, you're like a tsunami; in sadness, a cool autumn rain; and in love, a sea that passes through every state, from a raging storm to a complete calm.

You live by your emotions, but remember that they also shape the climate at home. Your loved ones can feel the effects of every mood and experience, sometimes with a touch of drama.

Then again, who understands other people, senses their feelings, and shows compassion better than you? And you can drown the person you love in an ocean of tenderness.

When Water is in balance

Your birth chart contains a moderate amount of the Water element, just enough to interact harmoniously with the world around you. You're reasonably responsive and open, but your best qualities emerge in private with those closest to you. Complete trust and mutual understanding are among your deepest needs.

You can have intense emotional experiences, but you know how to hide your feelings.

You have a creative side, with artistic abilities and interests. You understand how to create harmony in a space and know how to enjoy works of art. A book, a piece of music, or a movie can move you deeply.

When Water is missing

The Water element is missing from your birth chart.

As a result, you sometimes find it difficult to express your emotions, share other people's feelings, and form emotional connections with them.

Your mood isn't prone to sudden swings. You don't give in to unnecessary worry and anxiety and aren't easily affected by things—or at least you don't like showing your emotions in public.

You may seem unlikely to offer sympathy or empathy in words, but you can more than make up for it with practical support.

How to strengthen the Water element

To make up for the lack of Water, start with this principle: "I feel!" Don't be afraid to express your emotions, talk about your feelings, and share your impressions. Don't be embarrassed to seem overly sensitive, sentimental, or vulnerable.

Water is a world of images, so develop your ability to think in images and explore your inner world of dreams and fantasies. Pay attention to your dreams at night. Take an interest in mysterious phenomena that logic and reason can't explain—it can be fascinating.

Try a creative pursuit, or simply spend more time enjoying art, music, painting, beauty, and harmonious proportions. Notice the beauty of nature, too, with its variety of colors, sounds, and scents.
