Pluto in the 9th House

How Pluto works in the 9th house

Your philosophy of life is profound, yet it can also be rebellious, dangerous, and destructive: before creating something, you must destroy something else. Sometimes you turn to self-destruction or become caught in spiritual turmoil.

You seek a special pleasure in risky or extreme situations. Every trial is a chance to sharpen your will, strengthen your character, and push beyond your own limits. Sharp turns of fate will probably be unavoidable.

Ideas of equality and social justice appeal to you. You only want to move forward with people who share your views. Sometimes you set aside sweeping goals to focus on particulars, such as trying to reform an acquaintance or break them of unhealthy habits. You do good in your characteristically brusque way, which often leads to conflict.

Your dreams can be highly unusual, sometimes impossible: becoming a famous scientist and saving humanity from disease, for instance. You love research and unexpected discoveries and may take an interest in modern physics, biochemistry, genetics, virology, and other demanding subjects. Psychology may also fascinate you as you seek to reinforce your understanding of human nature.

What the 9th house governs

The 9th house in your birth chart extends the themes of the third house, covering long-distance travel and higher education. It describes your connections with people from other countries, how readily you set off on a trip, whether you enjoy traveling far from home, and how often you do so. It also concerns putting your knowledge into practice and your aptitude for study—meaning higher education or specialized professional knowledge. School education belongs to the third house.

What Pluto represents

Pluto spends more than 20 years in each zodiac sign, so its influence extends to an entire generation. Pluto governs masses of people rather than individuals, global processes rather than isolated actions. It represents everything unknown and hidden, along with all processes of development and reproduction on Earth. What traits define your generation? What global trends shape it, and in which directions does it develop? Pluto reveals the answers.
