If you have Capricorn rising, Capricorn was the sign coming up on the horizon when you were born. It shapes your first impression: what people pick up in the first few seconds of meeting you, before they discover what you're really like.
How other people see you
To other people, you come across as a pragmatist and a realist: you have clear goals you intend to reach, and you're logical and organized. In conversation, you try to weigh only practical, well-founded arguments. You usually keep yourself under excellent control, but sometimes you sink deep into your own thoughts and for a while stop noticing what's going on around you.
You care a lot about your reputation and your appearance. Status matters to you as the measure of the success you've achieved. You size up other people partly by what they've accomplished, how well off they are, and where they stand in society. You worry about the effect you have on people: you present yourself as a successful person who has accomplished a lot and, in time, will accomplish even more.
Sometimes people find you reserved and distant, but nobody doubts your honesty, your conscientiousness, or your competence. You have a reputation for aiming for the top and stopping at nothing to get there.
Your rising sign's ruler, element, and modality
Capricorn rising is ruled by Saturn. See how Saturn works in the different houses of your chart. Its element is Earth (read more about Earth), and its modality is Cardinal.
Capricorn rising vs. a Capricorn Sun
The Sun in Capricorn describes your essential character: what drives you on the inside. An Ascendant in Capricorn describes how you present yourself, the style that comes through when you're around other people. If your Sun is in another sign and you have Capricorn rising, people notice your Capricorn traits first. Only as they get to know you do they discover the character described by your Sun.
