The cardinal modality
The cardinal signs, Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn, open the four seasons of the year. Planets in these signs receive a charge of initiative. They know how to begin, set things in motion, and take the first step while everyone else is still thinking it over.
The strength of the cardinal modality is its ability to get something off the ground: a new job, a relationship, a move, a project. Its weakness is following through. Starting is easy; making it all the way to the finish is considerably harder, especially without some fixed energy alongside to keep things going.
If you have many planets in cardinal signs, you probably recognize yourself as the initiator: the first to make a suggestion, take the plunge, and accept responsibility for getting things started.
