Retrograde Planets in February

The bar shows what part of the month each planet spends moving backward. Retrograde motion isn't a "ban" – it's a change of rhythm: the planet's theme needs more attention and a second look.

1 5 9 13 17 21 25
Mars
From Dec 6, 2024 to February 23
Jupiter
From Oct 9, 2024 to February 4
  • Mars retrograde – the drive turns inward: head-on attacks stall, finishing what you started goes well.
  • Jupiter retrograde – growth goes deep instead of wide: beliefs get re-examined, and so does what you counted as luck.

Void of Course Moon in February

The void of course Moon is the gap after the Moon has made its last exact aspect in a sign and before it enters the next one. The classic rule is that whatever begins then "comes to nothing" – bad for launches, signatures and purchases, good for routine, tidying, rest and finishing off old things. This month has 12 of them, 58 hours in total, of them 1 long one (over 12 hours).

Starts Ends Duration Last aspect Moon enters
February 1 February 1 3 hr 04 min Conjunction to Venus in Aries
February 3 February 3 17 hr 14 min Square to Mars in Taurus
February 5 February 6 3 hr 14 min Sextile to Neptune in Gemini
February 8 February 8 3 hr 12 min Square to Neptune in Cancer
February 10 February 10 3 hr 11 min Trine to Neptune in Leo
February 12 February 12 5 hr 55 min Opposition to Mercury in Virgo
February 15 February 15 3 hr 10 min Opposition to Neptune in Libra
February 17 February 17 0 hr 55 min Trine to Sun in Scorpio
February 20 February 20 2 hr 49 min Trine to Neptune in Sagittarius
February 22 February 22 2 hr 30 min Square to Neptune in Capricorn
February 24 February 25 2 hr 11 min Sextile to Neptune in Aquarius
February 26 February 27 10 hr 42 min Square to Uranus in Pisces

We count the classical (Ptolemaic) aspects from the Moon to the Sun and to the planets from Mercury to Pluto. Sites that count only the seven traditional planets get longer windows – sometimes by a day or more.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an astrology calendar, exactly?

It is a schedule of what happens in the sky: when planets form exact angles to each other (aspects), when they move from sign to sign, when the Moon goes through its phases, and when a planet turns retrograde. A horoscope is somebody's interpretation. An astrology calendar is the raw data those interpretations are built on.

Why don't your times match another site?

Usually it is the time zone. Many astrology sites publish in Universal Time (UT), and we show Eastern Time by default, which is 4 or 5 hours behind it. That alone can move an event to the neighbouring day. The time zone switch in the panel at the top settles it in a second.

Does an aspect work exactly at the minute you list?

That is the minute it goes exact. The effect is felt wider – usually a day before and a day after, and for slow planets, for weeks. The exact time tells you where the peak is; it is not something to set an alarm for.

What do you do with a void of course Moon?

Don't start anything that matters in that window: signings, purchases, introductions, first meetings. It is excellent time for routine, for clearing the backlog, for tidying up and for rest. The windows run from a few minutes to a full day – see the table above.

Is a retrograde planet a bad thing?

No. Retrograde motion is an optical effect: from Earth the planet appears to move backward. Astrologically it is a change of mode: the planet's theme works inward and backward instead of forward. The only bad move is pushing hard at something that has no tailwind right now.

Where do these numbers come from?

We calculate the dates from the NASA JPL ephemerides JPL DE440. There is more about the sources and the checks on the methodology page.

Take the calendar with you The month's events as a single .ics file: it opens in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook and anything else that understands the format. It downloads immediately and asks nothing about you.
