Retrograde Planets in December

The bar shows what part of the month each planet spends moving backward. Retrograde motion isn't a "ban" – it's a change of rhythm: the planet's theme needs more attention and a second look.

1 6 11 16 21 26 31
Jupiter
From Nov 11, 2025 to Mar 10, 2026
Uranus
From Sep 6, 2025 to Feb 3, 2026
Neptune
From Jul 4, 2025 to December 10
Chiron
From Jul 30, 2025 to Jan 2, 2026
  • Jupiter retrograde – growth goes deep instead of wide: beliefs get re-examined, and so does what you counted as luck.
  • Uranus retrograde – change moves inward – quieter on the outside, rearranging on the inside.
  • Neptune retrograde – the fog lifts: you can see where the illusions were.
  • Chiron retrograde – an old wound speaks up again – so that it finally gets heard.

Void of Course Moon in December

The void of course Moon is the gap after the Moon has made its last exact aspect in a sign and before it enters the next one. The classic rule is that whatever begins then "comes to nothing" – bad for launches, signatures and purchases, good for routine, tidying, rest and finishing off old things. This month has 14 of them, 34 hours in total.

Starts Ends Duration Last aspect Moon enters
December 1 December 1 8 hr 58 min Square to Jupiter in Taurus
December 3 December 3 0 hr 58 min Sextile to Neptune in Gemini
December 5 December 5 0 hr 59 min Square to Neptune in Cancer
December 7 December 7 1 hr 03 min Trine to Neptune in Leo
December 9 December 10 2 hr 24 min Square to Uranus in Virgo
December 12 December 12 1 hr 13 min Opposition to Neptune in Libra
December 14 December 14 0 hr 15 min Sextile to Mars in Scorpio
December 17 December 17 1 hr 14 min Trine to Neptune in Sagittarius
December 19 December 19 1 hr 11 min Square to Neptune in Capricorn
December 22 December 22 1 hr 08 min Sextile to Neptune in Aquarius
December 24 December 24 3 hr 27 min Square to Uranus in Pisces
December 27 December 27 0 hr 58 min Conjunction to Neptune in Aries
December 28 December 29 9 hr 44 min Trine to Mercury in Taurus
December 31 December 31 0 hr 48 min Sextile to Neptune in Gemini

We count the classical (Ptolemaic) aspects from the Moon to the Sun and to the planets from Mercury to Pluto. Sites that count only the seven traditional planets get longer windows – sometimes by a day or more.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an astrology calendar, exactly?

It is a schedule of what happens in the sky: when planets form exact angles to each other (aspects), when they move from sign to sign, when the Moon goes through its phases, and when a planet turns retrograde. A horoscope is somebody's interpretation. An astrology calendar is the raw data those interpretations are built on.

Why don't your times match another site?

Usually it is the time zone. Many astrology sites publish in Universal Time (UT), and we show Eastern Time by default, which is 4 or 5 hours behind it. That alone can move an event to the neighbouring day. The time zone switch in the panel at the top settles it in a second.

Does an aspect work exactly at the minute you list?

That is the minute it goes exact. The effect is felt wider – usually a day before and a day after, and for slow planets, for weeks. The exact time tells you where the peak is; it is not something to set an alarm for.

What do you do with a void of course Moon?

Don't start anything that matters in that window: signings, purchases, introductions, first meetings. It is excellent time for routine, for clearing the backlog, for tidying up and for rest. The windows run from a few minutes to a full day – see the table above.

Is a retrograde planet a bad thing?

No. Retrograde motion is an optical effect: from Earth the planet appears to move backward. Astrologically it is a change of mode: the planet's theme works inward and backward instead of forward. The only bad move is pushing hard at something that has no tailwind right now.

Where do these numbers come from?

We calculate the dates from the NASA JPL ephemerides JPL DE440. There is more about the sources and the checks on the methodology page.

Take the calendar with you The month's events as a single .ics file: it opens in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook and anything else that understands the format. It downloads immediately and asks nothing about you.
