If you have Sagittarius rising, Sagittarius was the sign coming up on the horizon when you were born. It shapes your first impression: what people pick up in the first few seconds of meeting you, before they discover what you're really like.
How other people see you
To other people, you come across as a total optimist, full of energy, with a real appetite for life. You do everything on a grand scale and with real enthusiasm, and you let everyone see how much you love change, travel, meeting new people, new tasks, and whatever challenges fate throws at you.
It's natural for you to keep learning more and to be wherever something interesting is happening. You show yourself to be open in every sense of the word: open to roaming the world, to conversation, to meeting new people, to new feelings and ideas. You say what you think honestly and directly, and you may not mince words.
You have a reputation as someone who wants to be popular and wants high praise for your efforts. Your friends don't doubt your talents, but they think you should focus on one main goal instead of spending your energy on a hundred tasks at once. But narrow limits bore you. Your range of interests is simply too wide and varied.

Sagittarius rising vs. a Sagittarius Sun
The Sun in Sagittarius describes your essential character: what drives you on the inside. An Ascendant in Sagittarius describes how you present yourself, the style that comes through when you're around other people. If your Sun is in another sign and you have Sagittarius rising, people notice your Sagittarius traits first. Only as they get to know you do they discover the character described by your Sun.
