If you have Aries rising, Aries was the sign coming up on the horizon when you were born. It shapes your first impression: what people pick up in the first few seconds of meeting you, before they discover what you're really like.
How other people see you
To other people, you come across as self-assured and quite decisive, someone who knows exactly what they want to achieve. People see an innovator, someone who's enthusiastic about new technology and new ideas. You show an entrepreneurial streak and a drive to act. You usually radiate confidence and optimism, almost literally.
You want to be an authority among your friends, and you usually manage it. Pride won't let you accept anyone else's authority over you. In conversation, you can be impatient and uncompromising, and you don't always hear out an objection. Sometimes you speak first without thinking, then regret what you said.
Your rising sign's ruler, element, and modality
Aries rising is ruled by Mars. See how Mars works in the different houses of your chart. Its element is Fire (read more about Fire), and its modality is Cardinal.
Aries rising vs. a Aries Sun
The Sun in Aries describes your essential character: what drives you on the inside. An Ascendant in Aries describes how you present yourself, the style that comes through when you're around other people. If your Sun is in another sign and you have Aries rising, people notice your Aries traits first. Only as they get to know you do they discover the character described by your Sun.
