If you have Leo rising, Leo was the sign coming up on the horizon when you were born. It shapes your first impression: what people pick up in the first few seconds of meeting you, before they discover what you're really like.
How other people see you
Everything about how you look and act convinces people that your life is perfect. You carry yourself with royal dignity and royal generosity: you can be a patron, teach, share what you've learned, and mentor. At the same time, you don't like needing anyone's help or depending on anyone.
A circle can have only one center, and most often that center is you. You draw attention wherever you go. This is the sign of the actor and the performer: you raise the bar and the mood just by walking into a room.
You show strong leadership qualities. You can persuade an audience, gather supporters and like-minded people around you, inspire admiration and love, and lead the way. You can be a trendsetter in your circle, and your bold, interesting style of dress always finds admirers.
Other people may find you condescending, as though you look down on them a little. And it's true that you always keep at least a small distance between yourself and everyone else, and you expect respect and admiration. Because of that, you sometimes can't tell flattery from a sincere compliment.
All your life you strive for high standing in society and complete financial security, and you try to land the key position that will give you both.
Your rising sign's ruler, element, and modality

Leo rising vs. a Leo Sun
The Sun in Leo describes your essential character: what drives you on the inside. An Ascendant in Leo describes how you present yourself, the style that comes through when you're around other people. If your Sun is in another sign and you have Leo rising, people notice your Leo traits first. Only as they get to know you do they discover the character described by your Sun.
