Retrograde Planets in July

The bar shows what part of the month each planet spends moving backward. Retrograde motion isn't a "ban" – it's a change of rhythm: the planet's theme needs more attention and a second look.

1 6 11 16 21 26 31
Mercury
From Jun 10, 2027 to July 4
Neptune
From July 9 to Dec 15, 2027
Pluto
From May 8, 2027 to Oct 17, 2027
  • Mercury retrograde – deadlines drift, devices act up, and agreements are worth re-reading and saying out loud twice.
  • Neptune retrograde – the fog lifts: you can see where the illusions were.
  • Pluto retrograde – deep work: the old lets go slowly and with no witnesses.

Void of Course Moon in July

The void of course Moon is the gap after the Moon has made its last exact aspect in a sign and before it enters the next one. The classic rule is that whatever begins then "comes to nothing" – bad for launches, signatures and purchases, good for routine, tidying, rest and finishing off old things. This month has 14 of them, 72 hours in total, of them 1 long one (over 12 hours).

Starts Ends Duration Last aspect Moon enters
June 30 July 1 8 hr 14 min Square to Jupiter in Gemini
July 3 July 3 3 hr 53 min Conjunction to Mercury in Cancer
July 4 July 5 5 hr 04 min Square to Saturn in Leo
July 7 July 7 3 hr 46 min Sextile to Mercury in Virgo
July 9 July 9 2 hr 55 min Square to Mercury in Libra
July 11 July 11 1 hr 05 min Trine to Mercury in Scorpio
July 13 July 13 1 hr 24 min Sextile to Mars in Sagittarius
July 16 July 16 3 hr 58 min Trine to Jupiter in Capricorn
July 18 July 18 5 hr 09 min Square to Saturn in Aquarius
July 21 July 21 1 hr 56 min Opposition to Jupiter in Pisces
July 23 July 23 9 hr 22 min Trine to Venus in Aries
July 26 July 26 2 hr 44 min Square to Venus in Taurus
July 27 July 28 18 hr 42 min Sextile to Mercury in Gemini
July 30 July 30 3 hr 36 min Sextile to Saturn in Cancer

We count the classical (Ptolemaic) aspects from the Moon to the Sun and to the planets from Mercury to Pluto. Sites that count only the seven traditional planets get longer windows – sometimes by a day or more.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an astrology calendar, exactly?

It is a schedule of what happens in the sky: when planets form exact angles to each other (aspects), when they move from sign to sign, when the Moon goes through its phases, and when a planet turns retrograde. A horoscope is somebody's interpretation. An astrology calendar is the raw data those interpretations are built on.

Why don't your times match another site?

Usually it is the time zone. Many astrology sites publish in Universal Time (UT), and we show Eastern Time by default, which is 4 or 5 hours behind it. That alone can move an event to the neighbouring day. The time zone switch in the panel at the top settles it in a second.

Does an aspect work exactly at the minute you list?

That is the minute it goes exact. The effect is felt wider – usually a day before and a day after, and for slow planets, for weeks. The exact time tells you where the peak is; it is not something to set an alarm for.

What do you do with a void of course Moon?

Don't start anything that matters in that window: signings, purchases, introductions, first meetings. It is excellent time for routine, for clearing the backlog, for tidying up and for rest. The windows run from a few minutes to a full day – see the table above.

Is a retrograde planet a bad thing?

No. Retrograde motion is an optical effect: from Earth the planet appears to move backward. Astrologically it is a change of mode: the planet's theme works inward and backward instead of forward. The only bad move is pushing hard at something that has no tailwind right now.

Where do these numbers come from?

We calculate the dates from the NASA JPL ephemerides JPL DE440. There is more about the sources and the checks on the methodology page.

Take the calendar with you The month's events as a single .ics file: it opens in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook and anything else that understands the format. It downloads immediately and asks nothing about you.
