The Sun through the zodiac in 2031
The dates the zodiac signs begin in 2031 – the moment the Sun crosses a sign boundary. The boundaries shift by about a day from year to year, so being born on the cusp is not folklore but arithmetic: check yourself against the table.

Sign changes by sign in 2031
A sign change changes the manner, not the theme. Mars is still Mars, but in Aries it acts head-on and in Pisces it takes the roundabout route. 34 sign changes across 6 planets this year.

Retrograde Planets in 2031
A retrograde is an optical effect: from Earth a planet appears to move backward across the sky. The practical meaning turns with it: the planet's theme works inward and backward, not direct. Turning retrograde in 2031: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, Chiron.
Deadlines drift, devices act up, and agreements are worth re-reading and saying out loud twice.

What the shadow period is and why it matters
Before it turns, a planet covers a stretch of zodiac going forward. Then it comes back over it. Then it crosses a third time, forward again. Those three passes are the full cycle: whatever surfaces during the retrograde has usually already been flagged on the first pass, and closes for good on the third.
So \"Mercury retrograde from February 26\" means in practice that the oddities with deadlines and communication start earlier – from the moment Mercury first reached the degree of the coming station – and end later than the official date it turns direct.
The shadow boundaries are computed from the daily positions and refined to the minute; the stations themselves are exact to the second.
Eclipses in 2031
An eclipse is a new or full moon that lands close to the lunar nodes. It works like an ordinary lunation, only stronger and longer: the effect runs for months rather than a day. Where you can, don't rush anything final – the picture is still moving.

The first and last quarters are not in this table; you can see them in the monthly calendar, together with the exact times of every phase. A page of their own, with nothing else on it – new and full moons 2031. The folk names for full moons come from farming tradition, not astrology, but people look them up often enough that they are here.
Major aspects 2031
An aspect is an exact angle between planets. Here you get only the angles between the outer planets, from Jupiter outward: those build over weeks and months, so they describe a whole year rather than a single day. The fast aspects of the Moon, Mercury and Venus are in the monthly calendar.

When is Mercury retrograde in 2031?
In 2031 Mercury is retrograde 4 times: March 25 – April 18; March 25 – April 18; July 29 – August 22; November 19 – December 9. Eastern Time.
How many eclipses are there in 2031, and when?

Why are your zodiac sign dates a day off from other sites?
The Sun crosses a sign boundary at a specific minute, and that minute is different every year. If a site publishes in Universal Time and you are reading Eastern Time, the date can shift by a day. We show Eastern Time and give you a switch in the header: you can see the same event in UT or in your own zone.
What is the little chart next to each row?
It is the chart of the sky at the exact moment of the event: where the Sun, Moon and planets stood that minute and what angles they made. Normally you would have to build that by hand in dedicated software – here it opens in one click from any row of the table.
How does the yearly calendar differ from the monthly one?
The yearly one answers what is coming at all: eclipses, retrogrades, planets changing signs. The monthly one answers what is happening today: the Moon's aspects, void-of-course windows, the daily ephemeris and every day in detail.
How accurate are the dates?
Every date is computed from the NASA JPL ephemerides JPL DE440 and verified to the second.
